Castlemaine's Theatre Royal is the oldest continually operating theatre on the Australian mainland.

Now running as a cinema and live music and theatre venue, Castlemaine is very proud of its Theatre Royal. It has a history of over 150 years of continuous entertainment on the same site, in substantially the same building, with no ostensible break in service.

The Royal Kitchen serves traditional Italian Pizza and is open 7 nights for dinner during spring/summer and also for lunch on weekends during Summer. Didgfest encourages you to stay on site and enjoy the offerings of gourmet pizza, snacks, salads deserts, icecreams and coffee. The bar will be open with beer on tap and local wines for sale.

The Theatre also boasts an outdoor courtyard large enough for it's monthly artists market and summer outdoor cinema where Didgfest will hold its outdoor activities.
