Bruce Rogers

BRUCE ROGERS is one of Australia’s most respected didgeridoo makers and one of only a handful of didgeridoo players to gain recognition on the international stage. His career as a didgeridoo player and recording artist spans twenty-one years and encompasses musical genres from classical and jazz, folk and pop through to techno and experimental music. In 1997, he released his first solo CD, ‘Cloudhands’, receiving widespread praise.

Bruce has performed at venues ranging from The Amphitheatre, adjoining Uluru National Park, to the Sydney Opera House to the Spandau Citadel in Berlin. His nine concert and teaching tours in Europe have been highlighted by many acclaimed performances throughout the continent. Late in 1999 he headlined the ‘Australia in Warsaw’ Concert with woodwind player Chris Young in front of over ten thousand people, and subsequently recorded two CD’s with Chris in Poland for Polonia Records. Bruce’s new band – Tongue n Groove, released their first CD, ‘Keep Going’ during their European Tour in 2004.

Bruce, originally a civil engineer, works full-time as a didgeridoo maker, and it is for his beautifully crafted instruments that he is awarded the highest respect. Having made his first didgeridoos in 1992, he has gained a reputation for making rich and clear sounding instruments which are suitable for both experts and beginners alike. Nowadays, his didgeridoos are highly sought after around the world. Each didgeridoo is carefully crafted by hand from one of several traditional species of eucalypt, and the care and time taken with each one can be seen in the finished instrument. It is this level of craftsmanship that makes these unique didgeridoos such marvelous instruments - played by professionals such as Alan Dargin, Mark Atkins, Ganga Giri and Stephen Kent. These are didgeridoos that are made to be played.

Since the establishment of Didgeridoos by Bruce Rogers in 1994, Bruce has come to be recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on didgeridoo – professional player, maker and teacher of international renown - a rare combination indeed………
